Applesauce!

We made applesauce in class today. Everyone LOVED it!!! They want me to post the recipe so that the parents can make it at home. If you do make it, please post and let us know how it turns out!
  Recipe:
Chopped up apples (leave the peeling on)
Brown sugar
Sugar
Cinnamon
Put apples in crock pot and add a little water. Then sprinkle about a half a cup of brown sugar and a half a cup of white sugar over the apples. Sprinkle cinnamon over sugar and stir. Cook on high for a few hours. When the apples are soft, mash them until it looks like applesauce. Enjoy!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

We went to the Birmingham Southern Recycling Center today and learned so much about the conservation of our environment! We also had a great time! The highlights of our trip included being flushed down a recycled toilet slide and watching a demonstration of reused items in a presentation. So much fun was had by students and parents!

Orthodontist Visit...

Dr. Edwards did an excellent presentation of taking care of our teeth! We enjoyed his visit and the nice gift bags! We are also so grateful that he is our class sponsor this year!!!

Working Hard on Our Reading Skills

We have been working on the skill of cause/effect this week. When they come to teacher table in small group, we review the phonics skills, sight words, then read a story. After reading, we found examples of cause/effect in the story. The others are busy in our learning stations: listening to a story, word work, buddy read, retell/respond to reading. It is a very focused and intense part of our day!

Winter Wonderland

We just had to get out in the snow right away! By the time we realized that we would be stuck at school, we decided to bring some snow inside to make mini snowmen. We took full advantage of playing in the snow since it is a rare occasion. So much fun was had by all!
